FIRE DEPARTMENT HOLDS CHILI FUNDRAISER FOR ECDC

On December 16th, 2024, the Fort McDowell Fire Department held a chili fundraiser for the Early Childhood Development Center of H’man Shawa.

The Grinch and Santa Clause were on hand to greet guests into the fire department’s warehouse where the bright red fire engine is typically stationed. The fire department was able to partner with the East Valley Firefighter Charities to donate funds for all the ingredients and wares to serve the chili. The charity also donated $1,500 to go towards the local youth and kids in need.

Councilman Albert Nelson was on hand to donate to the cause as he feasted merrily on some hearty chili. “It’s really good chili! It’s got a nice taste to it. It’s not too hot. It’s very good.” He also commented on the fire department and their desire to bring joy to the community. “I think it’s awesome. I think it’s a good effort on their part to give back to our community.”

The fire department was able to raise around $3,000 for the Early Childhood Development Center. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for some chili and for supporting the H’man Shawa Day School!
