The Special Education Specialist is available to provide and assist parents with:
Advocate for children and students with special needs from birth to adult.
Ensure procedural safeguards are met according to the individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004.
Interpret special education reports and evaluation, as well as explain their implications.
Assist parents with submitting written requests, and responses to schools.
Prepare parents for special education meetings.
Accompany parents to school and special education meetings to offer advice and assistance.
Communicate with facility and school administration regarding student progress and challenges.
Transport parents to school meetings.
