Inside the Youth Council Room at the Fort McDowell Recreation Center, the steady rhythm of tradition pulses each week. Led by Terrance Williams, the Youth Drum Group brings together local youth to learn the songs, stories, and spirit of Yavapai culture. More than just a club, the group is a space where culture and community meet. Williams guides the young participants through traditional songs and shares lessons on Yavapai history, encouraging pride in their identity and a deeper understanding of their heritage.

Of course, no gathering is complete without a little fun. Thanks to weekly servings of Pizza Hut, the room is always filled with smiles and full stomachs.

The Youth Drum Group meets every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm and Thursdays from 5pm to 6pm. All youth are welcome to join, and no prior experience is necessary. Just a willingness to learn and connect.
