HEALTH FAIR HITS HOMERUN!

On March 26th, 2025, the Wassaja Memorial Health Clinic hosted the highly anticipated 2025 Health Fair at the Fort McDowell Recreation Center. The event featured over 40 vendors representing health departments, educational institutions, hospitals, local businesses, and tribal government departments. These organizations provided valuable resources, including health information, wellness programs, and complimentary samples to benefit the community.
As attendees entered the gymnasium, they were met with an engaging and informative atmosphere. Community members visited numerous booths offering a wide range of health-related services and resources. The Wassaja Memorial Health Center highlighted its comprehensive medical examinations and provided direct contact information for its staff. The clinic also promoted its community health transportation services while distributing motivational calendars. B-Cares representatives educated visitors about their health insurance options and available benefits.
The Fort McDowell Tribal Library provided attendees with hands-on scientific demonstrations with a microscope and the opportunity to select a complimentary book. A booth dedicated to smoking and vaping awareness provided critical information on the dangers of tobacco use and shared a crisis hotline for those seeking assistance in quitting. The Fort McDowell Youth Council encouraged community engagement by inviting visitors to follow their Instagram account for updates on upcoming events. Additionally, the Fort McDowell Recreation Center showcased its event calendar and community service opportunities.
Pinnacle Peak Recovery shared information about its premier addiction treatment services, while Dr. I offered insights on diabetes management and the benefits of the Wegovy treatment plan. The Wassaja Memorial Health Center distributed free Narcan kits, an essential tool in combating opioid overdoses. A booth on acupuncture discussed its health benefits, with representatives emphasizing that the service is available at the clinic.
The Fort McDowell Senior Center provided promotional giveaways and hosted a raffle featuring prizes such as a Keurig coffee maker and a beverage dispenser. Meanwhile, a Mary Kay booth allowed attendees to sample various skincare products. Another station focused on end-of-life care, offering discussions on the physical challenges faced by older adults.
The Fort McDowell Police Department presented a visual display of illicit substances and paraphernalia while educating visitors about the risks associated with vaping and fentanyl use. Blue Cross Blue Shield distributed questionnaires designed to raise awareness of essential health screenings. The First Things First program highlighted its vital services for parents of young children (ages 0-3).
The Community Garden, instrumental in the cultivation efforts at H’man Shawa, generously provided free seeds for various plants, including tomatillos, dianthus, peas, tomatoes, okra, and radishes. The Fire Department showcased their Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and offered fresh fruit to attendees. The Prosecutor’s Office shared pamphlets on abuse prevention and elder neglect. Dr. Martin Case from the Fountain Hills Hearing Clinic promoted their hearing health consultations.
Pearl Nutrition, a well-known local business, delighted attendees with free samples of its nutritious energy drinks. A podiatry specialist emphasized the importance of proper foot care. WMHC conducted free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings, while We-Ko-Pa Casino and Resort offered complimentary popcorn and other giveaways. The Yavapai Indian Foundation shared information on its philanthropic efforts and fundraising initiatives. Finally, the 24/7 Fountain Hills Emergency Room informed the community about its proximity and accessibility for urgent medical needs.
Attendees had the opportunity to enter various raffles and received an array of complimentary items, including stickers, pens, hand sanitizers, and other practical giveaways. More importantly, the fair served as an invaluable platform for raising awareness about diverse aspects of health and wellness.
