3RD ANNUAL GRADUATION WALK A SUCCESS!

On the morning of May 15, 2025, the Fort McDowell Education Department hosted its third annual Graduation Walk—a heartfelt celebration honoring the graduating seniors of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. The event took place at the H’man Shawa Early Childhood Development Center, where the atmosphere buzzed with excitement, pride, and community spirit.

The hallways of the center were transformed into a festive corridor of celebration. Lined with colorful balloons, shimmering tinsel, and graduation-themed decorations, the space came alive as the Class of 2025 proudly paraded through. Young students, teachers, and parents cheered enthusiastically, creating a wave of encouragement and admiration that echoed down the halls.

The seniors began their symbolic walk in the school’s garden and made their way to the cafeteria, where they were greeted with even more applause. Once gathered, Dr. Victoria Corlett invited each graduate to introduce themselves and, if they felt comfortable, share their post-graduation plans.
Following these introductions, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation President Sandra Pattea took the stage to deliver a motivational address. Her words touched on the power of resilience, the importance of staying grounded in one’s roots, and the bright futures that await each graduate. Her message was one of pride, hope, and endless possibility. To wrap up the morning’s festivities, guests enjoyed a delightful spread of cupcakes while family and friends gathered for photos, capturing the joy of this important milestone.

This year’s Graduation Walk was another shining success, a testament to the strength and unity of the Fort McDowell community.
